Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the AdoptPet mobile application and website at adoptpet.app (the "Service") operated by AdoptPet ("we", "us", or "our"). Read these Terms carefully before using the Service.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
AdoptPet is a platform that connects people looking to adopt pets with animal shelters and rescue organizations. AdoptPet is not a shelter, rescue organization, or animal welfare organization. We do not take custody of animals, and we are not responsible for the animals listed on the platform. All responsibility for animal welfare, accuracy of listings, and adoption processes rests with the shelter or rescue organization.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.
3. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use at contact@adoptpet.app. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information about animals.
- Use the Service for commercial purposes (e.g., selling animals, advertising unrelated services) without prior written consent.
- Harass, threaten, or harm other users, shelters, or their staff.
- Upload illegal, obscene, or harmful content.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the Service technically.
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent suspensions or exploit referral or gamification systems.
- Impersonate another person or organization.
5. Shelter Responsibilities
Shelters and rescue organizations that register on the Service ("Shelter Accounts") agree to:
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information about all listed animals, including health status, vaccination records, and temperament.
- Update or remove listings promptly when an animal is adopted, deceased, or no longer available.
- Respond to user inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Comply with all applicable animal welfare laws in their jurisdiction.
- Not list animals for sale; AdoptPet supports adoption only. Adoption fees must be disclosed transparently.
We reserve the right to remove any shelter listing or suspend any Shelter Account that violates these obligations or receives substantiated complaints.
6. Donations
The Service facilitates voluntary donations from users to registered shelters. Key terms:
- Payments are processed by Stripe. By making a donation, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.
- AdoptPet is not a registered non-profit or charitable organization. Donations may not be tax-deductible in your jurisdiction.
- AdoptPet may retain a small platform fee from donations to sustain the Service. This fee is disclosed at the time of donation.
- Donations are generally non-refundable. Dispute refund requests at contact@adoptpet.app within 14 days of the transaction.
- Monthly recurring donations may be cancelled at any time from within the app (Profile → Settings) or by contacting us.
7. Referral Program
AdoptPet offers a referral program where users receive Impact points for inviting new users who complete registration through their invite link. Rules:
- Referral rewards are granted only for genuine new registrations by unique individuals not previously registered on the Service.
- Creating fake accounts, using automation, or any other manipulation of the referral system is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account suspension and forfeiture of all rewards.
- AdoptPet reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the referral program at any time.
- Impact points and referral rewards have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash or prizes.
8. User-Generated Content
You retain ownership of content you post. By posting content, you grant AdoptPet a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute such content within the Service. You represent that you have the right to grant this license and that your content does not infringe any third-party rights.
We may remove any content that violates these Terms or applicable law, without notice.
9. Gamification and Impact Score
The Impact Score, leaderboard rankings, badges, and missions are engagement features with no monetary value. Scores may be reset, adjusted, or discontinued at our discretion. Abuse of gamification mechanics (including automated interactions) will result in account suspension.
10. Third-Party Integrations
The Service integrates with TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook for content sharing, and with Google and Facebook for social login. Use of these integrations is subject to the respective platform's terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANIMAL LISTINGS ARE ACCURATE OR CURRENT.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ADOPTPET SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR YOUR INTERACTIONS WITH SHELTERS OR OTHER USERS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU TO ADOPTPET IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AdoptPet and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.
14. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Serbia. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Belgrade, Serbia. For EU users, mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence continue to apply.
